Why did Reagan let out all of the Asylums and close them? I get they probably that they were not the best kept but it was at least a step forward with meds and care and everything in between. (lemmy.world)

He also went after free college during the run for governor. Reason stated: reduce costs (although the budget was balanced). Real reason: they were educating women and minorities.
