He defends imperialism in what way? I'm not sure we're talking about the same person at this point

He supports the current military budget and joined to kill people serving four tours and then serving as a mercenary for the excitement of killing people. He argues for massive shipbuilding buildup to "combat china", he supports extended benefits for military members to increase recruitment and on and on. He is not quiet about this his main problem with the current military isn't its action but what he views as waster and bad spending.

He advocates for redirecting funds from military operations to domestic needs, citing the billions spent on endless wars while domestic healthcare and housing systems struggle.

The ship building stuff seems to be more around instead of having China build them, build them in America.

He seems pretty darn anti-war and anti-interventionist from what I've heard from him in interviews.

No he frames it as a strategy to encircle china in the pacific you are just ignoring his military support

I get the paranoia. I think you might be taking it too far though.
