Rich old white men's lives don't matter, from every poor white man dealing from your bullshit

[-] CannonFodder@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Yes. But it's all relative. You are probably a very rich person compared to the poorest 20% of the world. Should they eat you?

And that's called integrity. A rare sight in these troubled times.

Nah, i don't fear death and once I'm gone who needs this old shell?

[-] BillyTheKid2@lemmy.ca 14 points 2 weeks ago

You know, it's tricky. I get called rich on the Internet, based on my position and salary. But I don't feel rich. I don't own my own home and I doubt I ever will. I rarely take vacations,I don't eat out - too expensive. I don't go to the pub with my friends anymore, can't afford it.

Because I live in Vancouver, an expensive city.

It's all relative.

[-] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

It’s totally relative. My husband and I together in Germany earn about half of what I used to earn alone in the US (we’re a student and an apprentice, so we earn especially little). I’m still significantly more prepared for emergency costs now than I used to be, because the total rent for my apartment is about half what I used to pay, and I no longer have significant health/health insurance or vehicle costs.

We’re talking about people that are, objectively, richer than 99% of literally everyone else in the entire world. The point you’re trying to make is relatively meaningless in the current context.

[-] CannonFodder@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Not really. You probably have all your needs met (enough food, somewhere comfortable to sleep) with leftover resources. Many in the world do not have their basic needs met. You could give your extra resources (everything above necessary food and board) to the poor. You are hoarding wealth from their perspective. Just like you see the billionaires hoarding wealth.

Don’t break an arm jerking yourself off, there, hero.

[-] CannonFodder@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Oh I'm no hero, I've got way more than I need and I'm enjoying it. Not bezos levels, but quite fine thank you. But as such I can see the vitriol against the millionaires is rather hypocritical. And I can jerk off however I see fit.

Why? U can stfu about billionaires being evil if you're the same evil.

[-] NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I’m not the same evil as a billionaire, and that accusation tells us everything we need to know about you. I’ll gladly take the ire of folks like you, the things that make you clap are disgusting. Go live up to your username, that’s all you are to these malignant fucks.

[-] CannonFodder@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

So if I were a poor person in a 3rd world country who couldn't afford dinner, let alone a phone, would the message that you have more than your share and should distribute your wealth be any less true?

[-] NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Yes. Regular, average citizens don’t have the means to single handedly dismantle systemic issues. Should we all just exhaust ourselves into homelessness? What would that change? Should I sell off all my belongings and live in complete destitution to achieve your standard of moral and ethical ability to speak on any issue of societal justice with any level of validity? I could liquidate all of my value and it still wouldn’t be enough to change the situation for anyone in a 3rd world situation. Either give up all your belongings and donate ALL the proceeds to those in need or shut the fuck up you hypocrite. There are people who could single handedly make the world better, but it’s not anyone that’s struggling to pay rent and put food on the table, you smug jackass.

[-] CannonFodder@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Not my moral standards. Like I said, I'm happy where I am. I'm just pushing your moral standards back on you, from a different perspective. You're calling my a hypocrite , but that's you projecting. I understand it hurts to have to see yourself as unjust when using the same yard stick as you use to criticize the billionaires. And yes, if you sold all your shit and moved to some 3rd world country and lived frugally amoung the people but brought in supplies for others, you could make a huge positive difference - probably for an entire village. I get that you don't want to give up your comforts for that. Neither do I. But that's just how billionaires see it too looking at you as the poor. It's all relative.

[-] NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Holy shit, shut the fuck up you stupid attempt at being a mouthpiece.
