MODERATORS
I’m torn. Obviously the likes of Carlson and Rogen et. al. need to answer for their support. On the other hand, I’m not sure making them wear a hairshirt or scarlet “T” for the rest of their lives– while warranted– actually gets us closer to where we need to be, which is free of Trump and the other despots.
How they are punished is less about how impactful it will be for them than it is about setting an example for the next generation of dumb, greedy assholes who might be aiming to follow in their footsteps. “Hmm. After seeing what they do to Tucker Carlson, maybe I’ll put down my God Hates Fags sign…”
Flip side of that coin is "After seeing what they do to Tucker Carlson [when he changes his mind], why would I change my mind."
Deterrent is a good argument, but I still don't know. If we don't get rid of Trump and other fascists, there isn't even the prerequisite power to make an example of anyone.
