My uncle told me a story, where he was abroad in Sweden. I guess it must have been in the late 60s or early 70s. He was casually strolling on the main Street and "disposed" the leftover of his cigarette (dropped it on the pavement). A police constable noticed and he made my uncle pick up every cigarettebutt on the pavement over a distance of 100 metres. According to my uncle he never has dropped another cigarette on the pavement again. ;)
