It's fun. Try it. (The barefoot walking - not the feces throwing...)
At least the designated barefoot paths are risk-free, but maybe also try taking a few barefoot steps through a lush pine forest or so.
Even just strolling without shoes across a stretch of grass is a really nice experience!
Walking through my yard or in a park is one thing, on a trail? No thanks.
