This is a community for discussion, news, and memes pertaining to the video game sub-genre "soulslike".
Given Lemmy's size, the definition of soulslike may be treated relatively loosely. While games like the numerous FromSoft titles, the recent Star Wars Jedi games, Lies of P, Nioh and similar games should be the focus, games that incorporate soulslike elements - like Hollow Knight and Blasphemous, for example - may also be discussed here.

thread seems to heavily favor Sekiro, it had been on my "rebuy" list when on sale for quite some time, and I remember the game fondly but feeling like I just could not nail the parry timings!
I'm going to give it another shot and save Night Reign for a future sale since I don't really have too many soulsborne gamer friends and I don't really want to play alone or with randos (get enough of that on hell divers 2 where I can at least carry a bit).

Yea, it's definitely difficult to get into at first, but compared to other soulslikes that have a similar parry system in place - Lies of P, First Berserker Khazan - it's a lot more forgiving, actually. In some cases, you can even just spam the block button for some "random" parries here and there. For most people, it takes them up to around the half-way point of the game, the first major roadblock for many, when they get the hang of the combat. It can be quite frustrating at times for sure, though.
