That's a straw man... not what I'm saying at all.
The real story around petrol prices is not how much it costs mum and dad to fill up the Hyundai and whether they do so on a Tuesday or a Thursday.
The problem is inflation. Everything that we consume will cost more.
Yesterday the treasurer said that their estimates are 5% inflation for this year. That's pretty catastrophic really. There are very few meaningful measures to combat this.
The government is going to cut spending, which means cutting services, and less money flowing through the economy generally.
The other is of course increasing interest rates which again means there's less money around. Even if you don't have a mortgage there will be less customers buying your artisanal oaten milk lattes.
The existence of EVs is not going to assist us in managing this problem.
