ironically, Bernie is one of the few potential presidents who probably would have held Bibi off and not gotten involved in their adventures. He's been an outspoken critic.

hate him all you want, but clinton (mentored by fucking henry bomb cambodia kissinger) - and now trump as shown by the last year - never would have reigned him in. Bernie could shrug off AIPAC bullshit in ways none of them could ever hope.

[-] EntheoNaut@lemmy.ml 16 points 1 month ago

That’s exactly why he was not nominated by the DNC, who’s leveraged by AIPAC backed candidates.

The whole system is corrupt. Both sides corrupt, one is more open and the other behind the mask.

[-] AlexLost@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

Both are corrupt, yes. Both ha e different agendas, yes. Therefore, if you only focus on 1 issue, you can say both are just as bad. Personally, I'd rather have a "free" democratic society than an authoritarian christo fascist one, but what do I know?!

[-] RiverRock@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 month ago

You do not have a free democratic society. The DNC has stated openly that they are a private organization who can handpick any candidate they want no matter what the people vote for. You have always lived in a dictatorship of wealthy pedophiles, they just don't bother with pretense anymore.

[-] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 12 points 1 month ago

Bernie will still tell people to vote for Clinton so in the end what does it matter?

[-] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 30 points 1 month ago

it's called harm reduction. not better than bernie, but better than trump.

unfortunately this is the timeline we occupy. I understand all the reservations with compromised candidates - but it's democracy, not marriage, you don't get to pick the exactly perfect candidate and ignore the harm done by the obviously more hideous candidate. That's not how this works.

It's imperfect, but it's the reality we live in. Selfishly deciding not to participate because your perfect candidate / ideology wasn't met shouldn't mean you choose the ideologically VILE candidate - which is what you've gotten in Trump.

I WISH I COULD HAVE VOTED FOR BERNIE.

But the hellscape that is the middle east would not be where it is today under Harris.

Period.

Fucks sake.

Kamala was supporting genocide and Iran invasions as well there is no difference.

[-] Blaiz0r@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 month ago

You're glad you dodged the Kamala bullet?

[-] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 month ago

At least Trump is doing everything incompetently.

[-] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

tell that to the school full of children he blew up.

you own that. that's on your stupidity. nice fucking work

[-] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 month ago

Luckily Biden didn't flatten an entire concentration camp and all schools inside it.

Foreign policy is bipartisan. I understand the idea of harm reduction for domestic issues even if I'm skeptical considering democrats had already thrown trans people under the bus. It's possible that the democrats wouldn't have kidnapped Maduro, but they'd gleefully support the killing of over half a million people worldwide due to illegal sanctions, and they'd definitely have bomb places regardless (look at Obama). Hell, Obama and Biden increased ICE funding and created the conditions for Trump. So sure, vote for the lesser evil, but don't pretend foreigners ever mattered to them, especially those of us living here in our countries where our democratically elected politicians sometimes disagree with your ghouls in chief and then we get collective punishment for it.

As for Bernie Sanders, he's still a Zionist, he has repeatedly endorsed sending more money to Israel and he betrayed the people who voted him when he pretended he cared about Palestinians, going as far as refusing to call the genocide what it was and constantly blaming Hamas which helps manufacture consent for the complete extermination of the Palestinian people. So fuck him.

[-] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

even if I’m skeptical considering democrats had already thrown trans people under the bus.

lol. during this admin transfolk have had their licenses revoked.

you're a dummy if you think dems would have been worse.

[-] orc_princess@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 month ago

Not worse, but still bad on trans people, considering Harris campaigned on "obeying the law" and letting states discriminate trans people if they wanted to. Trump is obviously worse.

It was a state move, not a federal one. Do you think the spineless dems would have stood up to states doing fascist shit? Because history shows they sure as fuck wouldn't. They would have told us to vote harder for their very progressive AIPAC funded "unlimited genocide on the Palestinians" senate candidate, who would get in and then immediately capitluate in the name of bipartisanship. I don't know how many more times you need to see this play out.

[-] BrainInABox@lemmy.ml 9 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

shouldn’t mean you choose the ideologically VILE candidate

You heard it here, from a BlueMAGA shit head: genocide support isn't ideologically vile, apparently!

But the hellscape that is the middle east would not be where it is today under Harris.

It literally was like that under Biden, who Harris promised to emulate. For fucks sake, you BlueMAGA genocide deniers are as bad as regular Trumpers.

[-] ExperiencedWinter@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Ahh yes, both sides are the exact same. No reasonable human being could determine the difference between Trump and whatever Democrat is running.

[-] BrainInABox@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 month ago

You clearly can't determine the difference, given you've resorted to outright lies and genocide apologism.
