Cheers to the lads because they reported the find. Such finds are very valuable archaeologically, even if their material value is limited.
The material value of ancient lead is actually immense, since it's the only source of lead that isn't contaminated with radiation like modern lead. Anything produced after the industrial revolution has higher levels of unstable isotopes, making it unsuitable for use as radiation shielding for sensitive particle detectors.
