No, that's mainly how he's viewed by your more orthodox communist outside of China. In China he's mostly known as the architect of the modern Chinese economy. There is some nuanced criticism about things like the rise of inequality, but he's still largely celebrated. Xi gave the ceremonial speech in 2024 celebrating his 120th birthday anniversary.
