I've never had a WFH job and I generally don't think I'd personally want/be successful with one. My sister is fully remote and she actually hates it, but I think its more the job she doesn't like than the WFH aspect. She says its lonely and isolating on top of disliking her daily tasks. I'm not anti WFH for others at all, to absolutely clear.

I switched my company to WFH in 2012. The advantages are.numerous but it requires discipline in two rarely discussed fronts.

  1. You need to set clearly defined office hours for yourself, otherwise you will always be at work. It helps to have a work dedicated computer that you can shut down at the end of your day.
  2. You need to make an effort to use your increased personal time (no commutes) to to outside, exercise, and most importantly SOCIALIZE. It is very easy to.find yourself a friendless hermit if you do not make the effort.
