I've been reading Open Veins so I pause at claiming the US was out-terrorizing Spain in the Americas, and British Empire deserve credit for their atrocities as well though it's easy to argue USA is the continuation of that.

at some later date, when the united states is barely a regional power, the venezuelans will forget why there was any animus in the first place and i don't know how to feel about that.
