Proudly did so months ago and switched to using Reddit solely through libreddit. Reddit is making it easier and easier to want to completely avoid their platform.
well done! - i haven't done it yet. I wonder if there is a way during the deletion process to delete all my contributions?
Wish I could say, but I just manually deleted all of mine. Luckily I never contributed all that much.
There used to be a browser extension that would overwrite all your comments with a null value and then delete them. No idea if it's still running though and I forget what it's called so not much help!
that was a good hint! There seems to be NukeReddit for Edge or a little workaround with Reddit Enhancement Suite and old.reddit
I wonder if (and when) libreddit ceases to work.
In the Libreddit Matrix chat I've seen them talk about the GraphQL API as well as webscraping, but there are problems/potential problems with both. But I think because libreddit doesn't do anything with user accounts there is at least a better chance of it surviving, at least after the initial changes.
Web scraping is the least reliable way to get website data, sadly.
Yeah, and plus based on what they've said it seems they would hypothetically do it from old reddit as well, which poses even more problems. This is all more than speculative anyway. Regardless, point is, might survive a bit longer until more changes are made. Second it's rendered obsolete that's pretty much it for me and reddit.
one instance i used for a while already shut down 😥
