It's funny looking back and thinking about how I used to assume that the opposing party would rain down hellfire on a President that abused his office, thus decorum would keep power in check.
It wasn't ever actually true when I was a kid and it's extremely obvious now that was always theater. There's almost no one in office with morals, ethics, or courage. It's a generally craven career full of spineless sycophants and opportunists.
There are a few decent people who aren't just pretending to care about the people they work for. But in general it's a scam, an orphan crushing machine operated by corrupted weirdos.
I know they have their little justifications behind the scenes. No one will remember them. They'll just say "Democrats failed to vote in favor of impeachment against the most transparently corrupt President in U.S. history."
They've been choosing to fail then turning around and asking for money to help them weigh their choice between failing and cosplaying bravery (as a treat) for my entire life.
Then half the legislation they do get through is as bad as if it was written by the other side...
It's been absurdly consistent.
