A "ceasefire" can mean multiple different things, depending on context.

When firefighters are doing a controlled burn, and the chief feels like things are getting a little too hot, he'll call for a ceasefire where the other firefighters will promptly extinguish the blaze.

When you're at a gun range, and you need to put up a new target, you call for a ceasefire where everyone magdumps as fast as possible, so they can put down their weapons, and you can walk out to put up the new target in safety. Some ranges have ceasefires on a scheduled basis, others will only do it when someone calls for one.

If you are pee shy, and at a urinal peeing, and someone comes up to stand next to you, and that causes you to stop peeing temporarily, you can call a ceasefire to let that man know you aren't just being weird by standing at the urinal after you're done.

In wartime, a ceasefire is when you extinguish fires at night to prevent the enemy from determining your position based on the light produced.

Directors for movies, plays, and TV shows usually have incorrect ideas about what a ceasefire is, so you'll see lots of odd occurrences called a ceasefire in movies, TV, and plays.

There's probably others, but that's the ones I'm familiar with.
