Hi, I’m the developer behind the Lemmy/PieFed client Blorp. I would love to commission you to make an animated version of Blorp’s logo. I think your style would fit the esthetic, and I’m happy to pay.

[-] Lay@piefed.social 21 points 2 days ago

I would be happy to, anywhere to contact you?

[-] moseschrute@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

Matrix if you have it (@moseschrute:matrix.org). Otherwise, Lemmy private message. Unless you prefer something else?

[-] TommyJohnsFishSpot@lemy.lol 8 points 3 days ago

Maybe they can come up with a better name too.

[-] moseschrute@lemmy.world 35 points 3 days ago

I know the name is silly, but someone will always complain about the name. Changing it might make one person happy, but it will likely make another person unhappy. So the net gain will be nothing, and I will have wasted a lot of time rebranding. That's time I can spend improving the app itself.

Another nice thing about "Blorp", since it's a silly made up word, if I search "blorp" on Lemmy/PieFed, 99% of the search results are people talking about the app. That makes it really easy to address feedback from users.

Exactly! My employees here at PunchOurEmployeesinTheFace construction are always wanting to do a rebrand.

I’m like “guys we’ve been over this! the wave of violence is probably due to our bait-and-switch pricing style. The few others are more of a fall into the employee when the watered down concrete inevitably fails. That’s why we gotta leave the job site immediately after completion people!”

They just don’t get it.

This is one of the most childish replies I have seen, and that is saying a lot.

Since the joke is entirely about absurdity and not making any grand point or statement of in kinda … yeah it should be pretty high up there in the unreasonable things you’ll read today category.

Honestly if your trying to say what I think your trying to say, the problem is your trying to read it as me insulting the other person. You having difficulty because it doesn’t actually say anything bad about they’re company name or decision to keep it. Reading it like an insult makes it just a confusing thing to randomly say.

Because the joke is actually that simple. It would be absolutely absurd if I meant what I was saying at all. That’s the joke.

You don’t have to like the joke but don’t waste your time overthinking it. You won’t get anywhere lol.

[-] WilloftheWest@feddit.uk 14 points 2 days ago

It’s a bad joke. You feeling the need to write 4 paragraphs explaining the joke is testament to that.

[-] Aeao@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I write long paragraphs for everything lol. All my comments have hundreds of edits as well. It’s called adhd.

It being a bad joke doesn’t bother me. It being taken as an insult does. I don’t go around wanting to hurt people for no reason.

That damages my reputation.

Making a joke that just isn’t very funny to anyone besides me does not damage my reputation at all. I can do that all I want.

If I was embarrassed about making a joke I’d delete. I’m still very thrilled about my joke.

Blorp is absurd nonsense. Innocent. PunchOurEmployeesinTheFace is agressive. Violent.

[-] Aeao@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Yes. It’s mean spirited against my fake employees at my terrible company.

I never said blorp was a bad name. I’d actually compare it to “James bond “ the writer picked James Bond because it was a boring name. Now it’s the name of James Bond.

I have no strong feelings about blorp. It’s just a name.

I do have strong feelings about a what bad name actually sounds like.

[-] KSPAtlas@sopuli.xyz 3 points 2 days ago

I like silly names, it depends on your preferences ig

[-] Aeao@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

Damn bro he came for a new logo not to catch a sick burn lol

[-] Scubus@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago

I was going to correct you on aesthetic, but i googled in and now i honestly have no idea whether its right or wrong. Never seen that spelling before though, by chance are you european? According to very quick googling as an American im more likely to use esthetic evidently, but ive never seen it.

[-] moseschrute@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Not European. Just bad at spelling :)

But European sounds much cooler. Now excuse me while I take the underground to go pickup my grey colour car from the car park. Cheers mate!
