How is that a bad thing? Still looks like a good place for community meetups and is one less road. Gotta take the silver linings where you can. It’s not like it’s flooded all the time.

So are most public bodies of water. Watersheds play a huge role in both flood management and public nature/wildlife areas and education. Either way it's 1000x better for everyone than a highway.

There's no bubble to pop here, it's a riverside park that double as a flood mitigation canal.

Take for example, Bishan Park in Singapore

The left one is before they turn it into a park, it's purely for flood mitigation. Then they turn it into a park that would flood in heavy rain. Cheonggyecheon is basically that.
