CalyxOS for your pixel phone. Degoogle that baby.

Calyx isn't as secure as GrapheneOS

[-] Marduk73@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 year ago

It's a lot easier to install and more secure than not having anything. Good option for people who don't have a lot of skill in this area.

Is the phone still usable as it was before or are there apps/capabilities that won't work after the install?

[-] Warfarin@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

There's restrictions

Bank apps may not work and wallet tends to just be random

[-] Sharkwellington@lemmy.one 1 points 1 year ago

Will the bank website work fine? I don't use the wallet.

[-] Warfarin@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Should do yeah

GrapheneOS has a web installer. Talk to me about ease of installation

Is Graphene degoogled from the start? I get all my apps from F-Droid anyway, so is it good?

[-] optimal 2 points 1 year ago

De-Googled from the start, although it allows you to install Googly Play Services and adjust its permissions on a need-to-have basis.

  • Do not harrass or attack members of the community for any reason.
  • Leave remarks of "peasantry" to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.

  • These rules are somewhat loosened when the subject is a public figure. Still, do not attack their person or incite harrassment.
