Same but then I can't get the right materials (embarked in a place without sand) so I rock back and forth at my workstation until merchants come, but it's only 50-50 that they'll bring any anyway

And then throw a vampire down the well so your fortress can be free.
In my fortress there is problem, and that problem is transport. It take very long to mine, because the mine is big.
