I needed to travel to a customer for work and hotels are ridiculously expensive if used for 2 months but airbnb is kinda affordable for 2 months. If it wasn't for airbnb I'd be homeless due to being unable to afford wasting 10 months of a 12-month lease and unable to affors living in a hotel for 60 days.
But then I’d say you weren’t there as a tourist?
The protesters’ grievances aren’t with people traveling for work and staying longer terms, that’s a fringe niche of travelers. Their grievances aren’t with the economy of mass tourism, including how the availability of affordable housing is skewed as normal residential properties are rented out short term to temporary visitors instead of housing the city’s residents. That’s to say nothing of the cultural impacts of the city catering primarily to passersbys.
I don’t think you’re more entitled to affordable accommodation than the city’s inhabitants, by the way. Also shouldn’t your employer pay for your accommodation?
My employer pays a fixed rate which simply isn't enough for a hotel.
