It's always a mix at events like this. I heard from friends who were arrested that while some officers were violent, most people weren't cuffed (which is unusual for protests like this) and one arestee had this to say about their arrest:

When I was taken to a room for interview at the Police Station, there was a plain clothes officer who I later discovered was from an anti terrorism unit.

As my HJA solicitor and the other officer were still outside the room I was alone with this officer for a few seconds he spoke directly to me. " let's get this crap done, I've done some pretty crap things but this has to be the worst."

The " No comment" interview followed and when the recording was completed,I apologised for my blank response to all their questions. Both officers responded in the kindest way by saying please don't worry we know it's what you have to do.

General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
