The Oval Office, then and now.
(lemmy.world)
This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.
This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?
Just post some stuff and don't spam.
Donald Trump just has awful taste. He want to surround himself with shiny "gold" things and always has.
Will that may be true in itself, but why does he fixate on gold in his decor? I'd argue it is about the projection of success. His hotels for instance, he wants them to be seen to be the best in the world so he puts gold everywhere in sight because in his simplistic view, money equals success and gold is the most visual representation of money without actually being money. Just my take on the why behind him liking shiny gold things. He's just importing it to the white house now.
This is kinda funny to share, but i had a customer a while back that told me he met Trump while doing work on one of his properties.
He was actually in the process of installing/gilding gold leaf on some of the entrance's facade when he claims he actually saw Trump with Marla Maples at like 1am or something. He said Trump stopped to criticize their work and warn him not to lose so much as a flake of that gold leaf. He apparently argued with him for a little while before he finally left him alone. I don't have any reason to disbelieve this guy, but i also realize I'm a guy on the internet passing along a story i heard. It just rings so true to his personality that i have no trouble believing it.
