Police were largely powerless to stop a neo-Nazi march through the Melbourne CBD, during which officers escorted the group of masked men to “maintain community safety”.

About 100 people from the National Socialist Network dressed in black and wearing face masks marched through the Bourke Street Mall at 12.40am on Saturday.

So obviously the cops knew in advance, how does everyone else find out these things are going to happen before they happen?

Seeing them all lined up like that is very gouranga.

So obviously the cops knew in advance

Because some of the cops are in the march.

In case this was just a kneejerk guess, it's worth pointing out one of their unmasked members (Nathan Bull) is the son of an officer.

WTF, it was just a snide remark.

It's not clear to me if the cops 'officially' knew of the march beforehand and I don't think anyone else knew other than the fascists and presumably the cops who are members and masked up.

spoilerOn the other hand, I suspect there are enough informers in the group that feds, antifash and even journalists might have known. The amount of leaked information in the past has led to many of them being exposed and fired, and I doubt their vetting process has improved much.
