You feel every discomfort of every sentient being that was directly and specifically necessary for the goods and services you use.

For example, if you bite into an apple, you can feel the hot air and sweat while you're picking it. You feel the pain in your back while you're driving it cross-country to a distribution center. Your feet ache in the last hour of scanning groceries at the store (where applicable. It's crazy some cashiers have to stand).

I've skipped a lot of steps, but you get the idea.

I feel this in my bones all the time, it's why I'm trying so hard to grow my own food and only buy second-hand stuff. It's not perfect, and I still buy new things, but I actively try to do without if I can.

It's so fucked and taken me a lot of CB therapy to calm down the guilt of how supremely unfair this world is to many people. I don't want someone sitting in a hot factory pressing out widgets just so I can buy a new toy.

I know this is controversial, but I think everyone should feel this way. Just like everyone should have to work food service until they learn not to be assholes at restaurants

Yeah I feel this way as well. It's difficult because I don't want to cause harm even passively, but they way the world is set up makes it so hard to be ethical.
