I don't know any kind of specifics about how those apps use the api, but there is also a bug in the
siteendpoint that was introduced last night. It's since been fixed, but the fix isn't going to get rolled out to piefed.social until rimu wakes back up.The bug only shows up if you have blocked any instances. So, if you haven't blocked any instances and you still can't use the apps, then it's likely due to something else.

I did block instances when I used Lemmy, and since I imported my settings from there, it was worth a check. However, Piefed shows zero blocked instances in my settings.
Alright, I was able to replicate this in Voyager and, at least in my case, it was caused by blocked instances. If you go to your filters page and select the instances tab at the bottom, there isn't anything listed there?
It shows “No blocked instances” for instances, and also Domains shows “No blocked domains”. I do have community and people blocks though.
Hmmmm, it must be a different issue in your case.

Yeah, I bet that is the issue. It's a change that is a couple days old at this point, I am surprised nobody had reported it until today. That should get fixed pretty quick.
