Its kinda tough because as much as the us is an epicenter you see the same problem with degredation of rights or at least powerful parties attempting to do it elsewhere. When it comes down to it I would choose based on city. I like major cities that have real metro systems and one stands out because you can bring your dog on busses and trains and that is toronto. That is where I would love to live but where I would really like to live is in a high rise downtown which I can't even do in my own city so I would have to become much richer. Also my wife is a car person and she has some medical issues so its a bit hard to have her get around like I do so I would essentially have to be that much more well to do for it to really work out.
