I wonder what other languages/cultures use to refer to our galaxy
"Linnunrata" in finnish which translates to "Bird's path" or "Bird's track"
I like that name a lot
Same in lithuanian paukščių takas. Edit: autocorrect corrected in to įn.
Linnutee in Estonian, literally "bird's path" because of the birds migrating south for the winter using it for navigation.
In Ukraine we use "Чумацький Шлях" (I'm not quite sure how to translate Чумак/Чумацький so I'll leave a link to wiki dictionary ) but saying "Молочний шлях" (Literally Milky Way) is also right
Literally 'Chumak's Way", Чумак/Chumak is a proper noun, so it doesn't really translate
Vetrarbrautin in Icelandic, meaning "winter track". Similar to Swedish vintergatan
Milchstraße in German, which translates to milk road.
In french it's the same word for word : Voie Lactée
Totally subjective, but I think it sounds better than the english
