An international investigation has revealed that the body of Ukrainian journalist Viktoria Roshchyna, who died in Russian captivity, was returned to Ukraine missing several internal organs, potentially to conceal the cause of death.

According to a joint investigation by Forbidden Stories and 13 international media outlets, Roshchyna’s body was transferred to Ukraine on February 14, 2025, as part of a repatriation operation involving the return of 757 fallen Ukrainians. Russian documents marked the body, listed as number 757, as an “unidentified male” with a reference note: “СПАС.”

This sort of shit needs to fuck off. The whole ml Vs world or whatever is so dumb. We are on this tiny social network that feels like the internet of old. Where we meet people online not just the once but likely often as we traverse the fediverse. But this shit, this hatred, does not belong here.

Buddy I got some bad news for you about the internet of old, flame wars are some of the first things we ever got up to on the internet.

To be clear, I agree with you, fuck that noise - but I don't think this is a hill you want to get too comfortable on. It's best to just ignore them, or block them if you feel strongly about it. People have been and will continue to call each other stupid assholes on forums from the beginning until the end of the internet era.

Wait. OOTL is my instance fascist?

[-] Cornelius_Wangenheim@lemmy.world 24 points 6 days ago

No, but .ml does have a bunch of tankies who defend Russia or try to distract and muddy the water every time Russia does something abhorrent.

Well there are a lot of these shits going around the fediverse all the time, and very seldom does anything like this happen. I just don’t want people thinking that tankies aren’t sane.

According to .ml, anyone even slightly right of outright communism should be considered fascist. .ml is one of the more extreme hard left instances, so comments from the instance should be taken with that in mind. It is very heavily censored, so their users only ever see the “China and Russia did nothing wrong” type of rhetoric.

.world has issues, for sure. It’s the largest instance, and that comes with its own issues. But it’s definitely not fascist.

Its the most popular instance, and at the same time they allow less than acceptable people

So, while not only having fascists, if they weren't the biggest instance (which is just another sign of them just being completely against the philosophy of Lemmy and Decentralisation in general, since every normal instance would have just closed their sign-ups by now) they would be long gone
