**LR (left/right): 1 = left leaning, 3 = neutral, 5 = right leaning** **CP (critical/pro-establishment): 1 = critical, 3 = neutral, 5 = pro**
**What's establishment bias?** The establishment view is what all big parties and powers agree on, which varies between countries and over time. For example, the old establishment view that women shouldn’t be allowed to vote was successfully challenged. ITN makes it easy for you to compare the perspectives of the pro-establishment mainstream media with those of smaller establishment-critical news outlets that you won’t find in most other news aggregators. Improve The News is a free news aggregator and news analysis site developed by a group of researchers at MIT and elsewhere to improve your access to trustworthy news. Many website algorithms push you (for ad revenue) into a filter bubble by reinforcing the narratives you impulse-click on. By understanding other people’s arguments, you understand why they do what they do – and have a better chance of persuading them.
You could improve the newsbot by having it not post articles that say essentially the same thing over and over again
Thanks for the feedback. One of the things I like about ITN is that you get to see the same story from multiple sources with their bias information included with each. Many stories exist in multiple categories, though, so those are actual duplicates between each magazine/community with Xpost links between. I could have the bot only post a story once the first time it comes across it but then people would only see it in that one magazine/community instead of in multiple. That might be better just to reduce the # of threads.
Sorry if I came across kinda rude, I was a little frustrated but it was probably just because I had it sorted by new. I see where you're coming from, I'm actually not familiar with ITN, this is the first I've heard of it. Maybe it's possible to stagger the posting between different communities to have it post every half hour or so or something like that? I have no idea what the back end looks like but just a thought.
No worries, I just found this site myself a couple weeks ago and though it would be cool to bring to my preferred UI (kbin) and share via the fediverse with anyone else who might be interested. I currently have it checking every 10 mins for new articles and posting new ones as it finds them. It could easily be changed to every 30 mins. I made a modification this morning to reduce the # of ITN articles it scans (trying to focus on the big ones, quality > quantity) so will see how that works but I'm always open to feedback.
