AND he said he wouldn't love me if I was a worm!

I've made that mistake. Just lie, when that question is asked. It's so dumb.

My take has been that people shouldn't encourage this sort of purity test behavior. Just answer no. If she doesn't like that, she shouldn't ask questions like that

Until she gets pregnant, acts like she's excited to start a family together, then cuts all contact after the first trimester because you didn't "care enough"

Except for the fact that she kept it, and is forcing me to get a lawyer just to have visitation rights, knowing it's not something I can afford. Sometimes I think if I lied about that dumb fucking question, everything would be different and I would have a relationship with my baby. There were other factors, more or less equally stupid, but that was a very big domino. I might have dodged the missile, but my kid didn't, and now I have to fight my hardest just to help them in the smallest ways imaginable.

If it's any consolation, the situation wouldn't be any different if you answered the question differently.

I will never actually know that. Looking back, it definitely feels like that was the beginning of the end. It's easier to assume the Internet stranger has something wrong they don't want to admit, but keeping me from my child has zero justification, and the court will absolutely see that. If I had enough money to afford a legitimate lawyer, she would have already lost custody.
