Content filter "trump" "musk" "Israel" Lemmy becomes a much nicer place to visit than the cesspool it currently is

[-] AFC1886VCC@reddthat.com 18 points 3 days ago

It barely works. So many posts that don't have those words in the title. I have "Musk" on filtered keywords and still seen this very post on my feed.

You're missing out on a lot of perfume news though

[-] AstralPath@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 days ago

You need to add more terms to the filter, then.

My feed isn't perfect but its well curated and saves me a lot of stress.

I've got tons of filtered words but still see Musk and Trump everywhere on my feed on account of posts that don't use their names or any politics related words in the title.

Maybe it's because they're subverting the largest and most powerful democracy in the world. Wait until the real purges start. I bet you won't be able to dig a hole deep enough to fit your head.

It makes Lemmy usable but it's not perfect. I have an agressive filter list with every American term I can think of. All the state names, all the politicians and political terms. Combine that with blocking lots of communities and I only have to see a small percentage of Americans.

I did this (using Sync app) about a month ago after seeing the suggestion and my god it has made a good impact on my mental health. You stil get a bit of crap about those dickheads when not directly mentioned in the title but its a big improvement.

Ignorance is bliss.

[-] leadore@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

I can't find a place to define filters, only blocks for users/communities/instances. Does it exist in the default browser client and I'm missing something?

[-] knexcar@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Yes, as someone who doesn’t use third party apps, I’d like to know this too.

[-] recklessengagement@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Yeah. Its not perfect but filtering primary news topics makes casual browsing much more chill
