I'm a Homelab tinkerer. This is the closest to a 'desktop' I get from my Linux server. Well, this or Portainer.

I would take part but I don't want to sit through the 10 minute boot time

[-] ShittyKopper 17 points 2 years ago

mfer booting that shit off tapes

[-] Gormadt 5 points 2 years ago

It's decade old server hardware with dual CPUs and nearly 200GB of RAM

After the heartbleed patch boot times went up pretty hard

[-] aBundleOfFerrets@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 years ago

Ehh just turn the patch off then, who really needs em

[-] Whattrees 3 points 2 years ago

Eh its maybe a minute. It all depends on hardware.

[-] ezri 4 points 2 years ago

They didn't say that was YOUR boot time lol

[-] Whattrees 3 points 2 years ago

Fair point lol. It doesn't really matter to me though since it's almost never booting, it's always on (as you'd expect from a server).

Sure, but your post says "on boot". Not "pictures of our Linux machines after running for a year"
