The order also leaves the children of same-sex couples in jeopardy in other ways. “Children end up having limited access to key services and benefits, such as healthcare, inheritance, and child support,” Angelo Schillaci, a law professor at Sapienza University in Rome, told BBC when the policy was first announced. “At present, only one parent is recognized by law, the other one is a ghost. In real life, parents and children play together, cook together, play sports, and go on holiday together. But on paper, they are apart, the state does not see them. It’s a paradoxical situation.”

Well I see the Reddit Defeatist Brigade has migrated to Lemmy.

The US military isn't coming to your door, even though you're willing to give up. We're more worried about the local sharia law losers hiding under their big flags. And the more dangerous we can be to those people, the less likely they will start anything.

Have you seen the police acting as an extension of states blocking abortion and reporting people? Or police acting as a GOP mafia? Or police in general and their treatment of people? Why do you think they are armored up with humvees and military hardware? I mean I get it. I'm armed. But I want to understand this viewpoint deeply because I don't see this as anything other than a reason for them to simply firebomb us. I'm not saying to give up either.

If you want a revolution stack the military. Join the military. Or the police even. Mobilize voters. I honestly don't have a solution, it just seems like a facist society usually overwhelms everything because they have the government military/and or police.
