To me the mirrored version just looks wrong

like you don't mirror or otherwise mutilate well-established meme templates

it's like an unspoken rule of the internet

Personally the original also reads left to right, the punch line being the starting domino being something that's seeming unrelated to the big final domino but both works, really

Have you ever noticed how they often shake left hands in a lot of shows and movies? It's probably something about shot composition or something but...
