There are some Lemmy instances I'd rather not have on my All feed. I know I can block individual communities but can I block entire instances or do I need to host my own to do this?

There is currently no way to block whole instances as a user and it seems like this feature will not come anytime soon. So it's either self hosting for full control or choose an instance that blocks the unwanted instances. Alternatively you could just block the communities of unwanted instances.

bummer I don't think I'm "anti-communist" but I also don't want my entire All Feed to be of a single subject. Sucks to be pigeonholed into a binary statement like that.

Move your account to an instance that blocks lemmygrad.ml

There are plenty of instances that do that due to the low quality posts and comments from lemmygrad.

Can I move it? Or do I have to start over? I'm new to this.

Sadly there is no built-in way to move an account yet. Just put your new account into the profile of your old one so that people know it isn't an impersonator.
