You need to hold down fn1 + page up for a few seconds until the keyboard flashes red, then let go of the keys. Now you can use page up as the print screen key. If you hold down fn1 + page up for a few seconds again, it will go back to working as the page up key.

Just had to search this up and found out how to do this from a Reddit post, so I thought I'd put this information on here as well.

Keyboard: Keychron Q3 ISO KNOB

I had a working system with Karabiner Elements, I had mapped caps lock to be a hyper-key on macOS. Everything worked perfectly.

Then I was stupid and updated to the latest firmware on the keyboard to 1.0.5 because it's the new shiny.

Now I can't override the capslock key with Karabiner any more.

I can see it's being pressed in the event viewer, but I can't capture the event. How on earth is the firmware bypassing Karabiner and how can I make it stop short of remapping capslock to a key that CAN be overwritten in firmware?

Pretty much every other key can be overwritten at least from the dozen or so I tested already, it's just CAPS LOCK being special.

I bought a V6 and I'm happy with it, but I did not realize it was ANSI and not ISO (or rather, I think I did not realize what it meant until assembly).

That said, I'm a programmer and I need the angle brackets easily accessible. Luckily, in the AZERTY mapping of the ANSI-104 layout, there's a key above Enter that is virtually useless to me as is (shown here as */μ). This is where KC_BACKSLASH would be on the QWERTY mapping.

However, I have been absolutely unable to find a normal way to remap it to both brackets (a key that exists in ISO but not in ANSI).

Here's ideally what I want:

  • Pressing [this */µ key] gives me <
  • Pressing SHIFT + [this */µ key] with Shift gives me >

Here's what I have tried so far:

  • Microsoft's Mouse and Keyboard tool: doesn't recognize non-microsoft keyboards
  • Microsoft's Powertoys tool: doesn't allow 2 shortcuts on the same key
  • VIA: can only remap to ANSI keys
  • VIAL: doesn't even recognize the device as-is, and throws a protocol error when sideloading the JSON.
  • AHK: not ideal but yeah it works

I've only been able to make it work through AutoHotKey. I feel like VIA/L should be the normal solution here, but if so, I have not found how to make it work.

Was there a cleaner way?

EDIT: I was wrong, the "<>" key I was looking for does exist, and as u/PeterMortensenBlog on reddit and @saigot@lemmy.ca here pointed out, it is simply KC_NONUS_BACKSLASH, abbreviated NUBS in VIA.

I've been trying to return a keyboard for a while now but Keychron support has stopped responding to me. I'm hoping maybe someone here has an in with Keychron and can help.

The keyboard showed up with no shrink wrap and the DHL bag it was shipped in had been opened and resealed with packing tape. I'm just trying to send the thing back but cannot get any form of legitimate support.

I had also tried to get help on the Keychron Subreddit but Cheswick banned me because they did not agree with my reason for wanting to return the keyboard. I'm not here to cause issues, just looking for help. I would very much appreciate any assistance, if that is at all possible.

Designed and 3d printed my own custom case for the K8 Pro, since I thought it was too tall and I didn't want a wrist rest.

Has anyone else had this problem?

The keycaps that came in with my K6 all keep slowly falling apart - one side of the base that slides onto the switch eventually cracks/chips/splits off.

They did replace two when I requested support (Q and W, and I am not even playing FPS games to use these keys too much) but few months later and now a lot more of them eventually started breaking (Left Shift, Win, B, X, 5, ...).

I ordered a new keyboard from keychron.ca but forgot to update my address since the last time I ordered (I moved to a new city). So now the order is paid, not yet fulfilled, but I can't get through to help and there's no option for changing the address.

I sent them an email and I keep waiting for somebody to be available in the chat. I don't want to relax too much or wait too long, just in case they send it to the wrong address. At that point it will be too late.

Has anybody dealt with a similar situation from Keychron?

Edit: They did finally respond and changed the shipping address in the backend (it does not appear in my order listing but I'll trust them that it's changed in the places that matter).

There's no numlock light. There's a capslock light, which, albeit extremely dim and barely visible, does its job at telling me whether caps lock is active or not. But there is no caps lock light at all. I read posts asking to disable the caps lock light, but I would like to enable it. I am running custom firmware to set the polling rate to 1000hz for gaming.

Hey! Recently acquired a K3, and tried searching (amazon, keychron website, some reddit) for a blank (no letters, no anything) keycap set for it, but didn't have any luck. I can't be the only one — did anyone find one?

Issue here on my k4v2, hope someone can help.

Win11, using cable, after first PC boot, the keyboard is not properly connected. It lights up, iirc only num lock light stays on, pressing any key lights it up like start up and again no response. I just pull the cable out of kb and then plug it back in and it works again.

I did the fn+z+j reset, that helped "somewhat". Sometimes it connects on boot, about 70% of the time, sometimes it doesn't.

I have been using it since January and had no problems like this. Maybe a recent Win11 update is at fault. Anyone else?

A while back after it was announced I purchased the Q0 to test its use as a macro pad. As part of that I figured why not do some pictures and write a little review.

The Good:

  • Quality packaging means it wont be damaged in shipping
  • The included C to C cable is great, and a good length
  • The included A to C adapter is useful to have!
  • The Foam between the plate and PCB is good quality
  • QMK/VIA support is essential and works well
  • ALU is good quality and well machined
  • lots of little quality details, like rubber pads between the base and top of the case to keep it from rattling or shifting around.
  • USBC port is on a daughter board that is replaceable separate from the main PCB.
  • Screw in stabs

The Meh:

  • The encoder is soldered not socketed so you cant swap it with something else or replace it.
  • The encoder feels like garbage to me, it has "scratchy drag" and a the tactile feedback extreme and each step feels like its locking into position.
  • The screws holding the case together require an Alan key, while on the inside the USBC port is screwed to the case using Phillips.... Why why are there two different types of screws!
  • PCB and Plate are screwed using Phillips as well.
  • Masonite (maybe) paper is glued to the bottom of the PCB to prevent shorts, but is a PITA to separate.

The WTF:

  • listing says it has case foam on the bottom, mine does not.
  • gasket is way to soft for me, i would have preferred a much stiffer foam, so I will have to replace this.

Overall, its nice, if you dont have a num-pad and are looking for a very high end, high quality one with extra macro tools this is a great fit. If you like stiff springs/switches you probably wont like the Gasket.

Build: 8/10 Feel: 4/10 Features: 8/10 Value: 6 /10

If you have an older K series Keychron keyboard that includes a Sonix MCU you can flash to a custom firmware that supports QMK/VIA so you dont have to use the garbage stock software.
