Auto Dark Mode (sopuli.xyz)

Is there a way to automatically switch on dark mode like you can turn on night light? Or is it necessary to open the system settings app every time and switch it by hand? I searched around in the system settings but did not find anything about that? Is this a planned feature for a future release or is there a plugin?

Colour Saturation (discuss.tchncs.de)
submitted 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) by Nephalis@discuss.tchncs.de to c/kde@lemmy.kde.social

Hey there,

I think its not the first time you read about this.

I recently installed a Linux on my gaming pc and I want to fade out of Windows11 and into Linux only. So far so good.

One of my biggest concerns where the colours of my monitors. Since Adrenaline is not available on Linux, I hoped for another solution to get the colours bright and bangy. But it seems impossible with wayland.
And noo, its not a setting that my monitor can provide. It never was and it never will (I write it down since in every thread about this topic, someone was mentioning it sounds like something the monitor setting should handle).

  • For X11 there was vibrantLinux.
  • A maybe instable solution could be vibrant-cli.
  • For games there is Gamescope thanks to Valve. But this only works for Games started from within Steam.

So this means, my Desktop/Browser still is not as bangy as I want it to be.

My search lead me to KWin scripting could be the solution. This is where I need some advice or somebody to confirm!

If I want to increase the overall colour saturation for my monitors, the correct way to go is to create a KWin script that does it, pack it as a package and use it.

I found the KWin Scripting tutorial over at develop.kde.org and I feel like solving this problem could be interesting.

Since I have no experience with JS, ECMA-Scripting or QMA, all this will be new and I want to know beforehand if I walk the right path. If not, a lot of time will be consumed just to realise I was wrong.

Thanks for reading :)

PS: I like KDE very much

PPS: Just if you never heard of Adrenaline: I have Radeon gpu

Hello again, I just released a great new version that lets you organize your windows quickly and efficiently on your desktop

TLDR

Features:

  • Move windows between tiles with the new user interface by simply dragging the windows.

  • You can now customize the layout that will be set on the newly created virtual desktop.

  • New wiki

I know not everyone uses keyboard shortcuts, so to help you use the script more effectively by moving windows around tiles without shortcuts, I've created a new user interface that activates when you move windows

You can also create your own layouts when creating a new virtual desktop, allowing people with multiple monitors to use the script without misalignments in the tiles

New wiki that allows you to learn how Fluid tile works

Thanks for reading. Have a nice day!!!

I am not sure whether this is the right community for this question, so please let me know if it's better to ask somewhere else:

I am getting a message, saying,

The issuer certificate of a locally looked up certificate could not be found.

How do I solve this? (I am running on Debian).

At first Instead of my SDDM I would just see an after image of what was last displayed on screen. But if I typed in my password and pressed enter, it would let me in just fine. Then after following some suggestions from users in r/Kubuntu I've made a bit of progress. Now when I boot up my computer instead of the SDDM being invisible, it now doesn't load at all, from there I switch to tty3 then back to tty2 and then log in through the terminal. After that I run startplasma-wayland and then I have access to my desktop. The post where all this went down - https://www.reddit.com/r/Kubuntu/comments/1nvreuo/sddm_not_rendering/

Does anyone know a fix? I would like to be able to see my login screen.

Here's my specs in case that would help - https://i.imgur.com/XtC43zw.png

And here's my journalctl output after booting and launching plasma - https://pastebin.com/nnGsWebd
