submitted 3 months ago by Ulrich@feddit.org to c/briar@lemmy.ml

This seems like a super useful app with almost no community around it. I can't seem to find very much information at all anywhere. Someone add me: briar://acqllat453fdlhu6vgmjeslxuize2ms55iswqqkt4s7qi2pyhuwt6

Since the article was published, Briar did come-out with options for desktop as well.

I recently discovered that Briar is available on desktop now! Are you using it on desktop yet?

Hi all! I’m working on my cyber security bachelor’s thesis and am reaching out to gather insights from users who use decentralized messaging applications.

I would be incredibly thankful if you could find the 2 to 4 minutes to fill out the form. Your experience in the matter is incredibly valuable.

You’ll find the survey at https://questionnaire.ink/412758

Your responses are confidential and will be used solely for supporting my thesis. No personally identifiable information is collected.

Thanks!

Hi, I was thinking maybe Briar could be used in education environments for people who live in zones with bad phone signal, in very remote parts.

Since people can connect though a wifi network (maybe not connected to the internet?) is it possible for tens of people to communicate if they connect to the Wifi network from a router? That might be usefull.

What do you think? I haven't used Briar because I don't really have someone to talk with, so for now I'm talking to myself on different devices to try it out.

Briar allows messages to be sent over Bluetooth which is a feature that doesn't require internet or Wi-Fi, also been seeing a lot of people say briar is russian spy ware it simply isn't as its open source

Briar needs a way to send notes to yourself, like signal has the note to self feature. Unless there is one and I overlooked..
