Buildings are silent witnesses to time. They hold the echoes of laughter, heartbreak, and change, and The Berlin Apartment makes sure you feel that.

Here, you become the quiet observer of a century passing within a single Berlin apartment. You’ll experience the lives of several tenants, each with their own story to tell, their own joys and burdens to share. And as you help them along, the apartment itself slowly reveals its layers of history, both personal and collective.
It’s an interactive way to experience history: the big, world-shaping one, intertwined with the small, intimate ones. Time passes, people come and go, and the walls remember.

One look at Birdcage and you might mistake it for an arcade shoot 'em up (or shmup, as it's also known for short) from the late '90s, in particular Treasure's Radiant Silvergun. If you're keen, check out the Evercade consoles for a lineup of classic shooters of the era, from SNK and Toaplan.

Million Depth sets up a future where humanity couldn’t live on Earth’s surface. This event led to the richest humans getting a ride into space, while those who were left were forced to burrow deep into the Earth for survival. I think the Steam page reveals a little too much about the setup and rules of this reality, which heavily dips into science fiction and reveals some emotionally charged narrative paths for the game’s characters. We meet Moma in space after she lost contact with someone from Earth. Through logs, we can catch up with their relationship before Moma decides to just go to Earth and find this person.

The early hours of this game are that of confusion. Players are almost left out of any exposition or discovery as early scenes throw sci-fi terms at you, and maybe there’s a scene of a device killing someone before you learn that the humans left all worship someone known as Lady Bae. You see, things move quickly in the underground, but this hazy way of storytelling feels intentional once you finish your first descent.

In 2021, developer World Eater Games ran a successful crowdfunding campaign for their narrative-driven action game, Bittersweet Birthday. Over the years, they’ve been refining this adventure with the help of backers and feedback from updated demos. Now, we’re finally about to celebrate the game’s actual birthday with its official launch. However, some of those added bittersweet bits might hold back what could have been an excellent weekend indie game.

The best description of It Takes A War I've seen is that it mixes Counter-Strike and The Stanley Parable. Yes, the walking simulator. It uses the context of a first-person shooter that we all know and love, and twists it into new dimensions to tell a compelling and unexpected story.

Radiolight, a thriller from developer Krystof Knesl, understands this feeling well. Set in 1985, you play as Ethan – a police officer for the town of Ashwood Creek, where a teenage boy has gone missing in its national park. When a second person goes missing, Ethan is sent out into Ashwood Creek National Park in the dead of night to look for them – and as someone who loves nature but struggles with horror, I hate that Radiolight's investigative hook was strong enough to keep me tip-toeing beneath the trees.
