I live in the US and this was never a problem for me? If it is then these people aren't really your friends. Think of it as a litmus test for finding friends.
The most notable explanation I can point to is that Apple's iMessage, below the hood, functions a lot like WhatsApp or Signal, being an IP Texting/instant messaging service, and offering various advanced features that regular SMS and MMS do not support. To some this is important, and they may think less of Android users as a result of this.
It als does not help that for one, Apple does not want to publish iMessage to the Google Play store, and for two, that there is no general advanced messaging standard in widespread use, that is being enforced as the mandatory standard unless absolutely not available at both ends by phone carriers and/or governments. If there was, the technical side of this would not be a problem.
Google tried to spread RCS as a standard but were shut out by Apple in the phone era. They bought a company called Grand Central station in the 00s and tried to do something similar pre smart phone era too but were shut out by carriers who wanted their mms fees.
Of course, everyone has crushed standards like xmpp and tricked people into thinking bloat like discord is how we should chat with each other.
I'm an Android user since the age of the beginning but know that even USA iPhone users that don't openly mock your bubble color, they by and large think that.
This is why we can't have nice things.
It seems like a lot of iot tech is geared more towards iPhone in the US. For example my wife's Odyssey will read the entire header of a text message with text to speech, and if you look into it Honda says it's a known issue. No such issue with iPhones.
I have a lot of friends that have iPhones. They just don't care about the color of bubbles.
I am an android user. I really don't care if message is send using RCS or SMS.
Dude… let it go. Seriously. You’re clearly trying to drum up some drama. It doesn’t matter what people use. It doesn’t effect you at all. They will use what they want, and you will use what you want.
And I’ve read that post. You’re fishing from conflict there as well, but most of the responses were well thought out reasons for using the product- you just didn’t like/agree with them. So now you’re here trying again.
If you have such a hate-boner for apple, don’t use apple.
Deal with it.
I myself use an iPhone, but I don’t at all look down on people who use android.
Hell, I love android and really wish I could use android phones. But I have had several unfortunate occurrences on my two android phones I owned in the past - OS bugs, buggy apps, OS that slows down significantly after one year, dropped texts, dropped calls, dropped voicemails, the list goes on.
Android (in my experience) was incredibly unreliable. Ever since getting an iPhone I haven’t had any of those issues.
Not wanting to talk to you, because your text bubbles are the wrong colour? Sounds a bit cultlike in behaviour. I daresay I don't know anyone like that. But, I also don't know too many people with iphones any more. Also I don't really use text messages. For text I'm using whatsapp or signal (or for techie types maybe matrix).
I live in south korea, and YES. My friends say its a dealbreaker, although Idk the reasons.
It is a pain in group chats. That one green bubble means the chat falls back to basic text. That means I effectively cannot send a video (possible, but unusable quality).
At that point I would rather use something like WhatsApp. Which is fine if everyone in the group has it. At least it is cross platform.
But I am seriously considering buying my sister, who has a cheap husband, an iPhone just so she does not mess up a family group chat.
