Electrek heard from a source that Tesla informed Disney+ last week that it would remove its native app from the Tesla Theatre in its vehicles without giving a reason as to why.

A few days later, Tesla told Disney that it would only remove the app for Tesla owners who never used the app before.

The automaker now appears to have acted on the threat, as many Tesla owners are reporting not seeing the Disney+ app in Tesla Theatre anymore. Others, presumably those who have used the app before, are still seeing the app available in their cars.

We were told that Tesla didn’t officially give a reason to Disney, but the message was sort of “read between the lines.”

Do tesla shareholders not care that the ceo is fucking with their customers because a company stopped advertising with his other company?

Ostensibly, tesla has nothing to do with xitter. How is this acceptable to anyone?

[-] darganon@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

I'm not a TSLA shareholder, but I do have a model 3, and my Disney+ app was removed.

I don't really care because I don't have kids, and between Disney and Musk, I'll take Musk any day. This isn't a good vs evil battle, it's evil vs evil, where one side isn't completely malevolent.

[-] frshmt@lemmy.zip 55 points 11 months ago

I'll take Musk any day.

Yikes

[-] HollandJim@lemmy.world 24 points 11 months ago

This isn’t a good vs evil battle

Yes it is. Look at Xitter and say Bob’s wrong. And if you can’t see it, you should at least understand which side you’re on.

[-] darganon@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Musk saying antisemitic shit is heinous, that doesn't make Disney any better of a company.

[-] HollandJim@lemmy.world 20 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Ah, the “whataboutism” defense.

One doesn’t negate the other; Disney certainly sucks in many other ways, but compared to Musk and his overt racism, Nazism, and harboring and enabling those who would do whatever they could to bring down the US? Fuck Musk, and fuck your feeble fake-out.

Stick to the conversation - we’re talking about Musk here - don’t change the subject to deflect attention.

Its weird that you know one side is completely malevolent, and then proudly chose that side.

"I know one of these parties has some redeming qualities, and it makes me sick!"

[-] darganon@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Yeah, spacex and moving electric cars into the mainstream, no redeeming qualities at all.

[-] wildginger@lemmy.myserv.one 4 points 11 months ago

Oh for sure, cause there definitely wasnt multiple other companies doing those same things more competently, who were going just a bit slower because they were following pesky things like, I dunno, laws.

That definitely excuses the open racism and flagrent incompetence at every turn, for sure.

Just admit you love that he is a racist git, youre doing a shit job hiding it.

[-] darganon@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Everything I've learned about Elon musk since the Thai cave incident has been against my will.

He bought Twitter and I deleted my account. I don't know what he does on a daily basis, or what he says until it gets posted here, unlike you morons that keep engaging with him. I also don't know what's happening on Parler or Truth Social, because there's no reason to give those people engagement, which is what they want.

SpaceX is resupplying the ISS and Starlink provides decent internet where there are no other options. Tesla sets the standards for electric cars, and did it a decade ago.

Are any of these things perfect? No, but they are moving the world forward, and it is unfortunate that he's the guy at the wheel.

[-] wildginger@lemmy.myserv.one 2 points 11 months ago

"You morons?" I dont follow him, lil racist, I learn about him via news articles after he makes another anti jew comment.

I just dont defend him for doing things 20+ other companies are already working on, except he got done """first""" by either buying the rights to the name of the first people or by breaking worker protection regulations.

"Sure he is racist, makes unsafe products that better companies make safely, is actively spreading more racism, and blows up a fuckload of rockets for no gain in a pissing match with amazon, but I stuck my fingers in my ears for every other word so its okay! Sure its not perfect, but its not good either!"

You cant even defend your racist idol properly, yuck bud

[-] darganon@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

They make among the safest cars ever sold, but don't let facts get in your way.

SpaceX, once again, is providing low cost rockets for NASA, reducing our dependence on Russia for spaceflight, and saving tax payers billions.

It's honestly odd that you can't recognize that just because you don't like the guy doesn't mean he hasn't contributed.

I can say all that while still despising the racist stuff. Fucking weird, right?

[-] wildginger@lemmy.myserv.one 2 points 11 months ago

Im talking about the factories they are made in, bud, but dont let the injuries and deaths get in your way

SpaceX isnt the only aerospace company, its just the cheapest. And Im not concerned about global markets, especially when the trade off costs workplace safety.

Its fascinating that you defend the safety problems while hand waving the racist stuff. Fucking weird right?

[-] ttmrichter@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

...where one side isn’t completely malevolent...

...and the other side is Tesla, owned by Apartheid Edgelord.

[-] RestrictedAccount@lemmy.world 59 points 11 months ago

The enshitification of a car some dipshit paid for.

People will hear about this every time they talk about buying a Tesla from now until forever.

[-] Uglyhead@lemmy.world 24 points 11 months ago

Just wait until Apple and Google remove twitter from their stores.

Banned!

[-] TehWorld@lemmy.world 19 points 11 months ago

He’ll just start his own phone company. *neural link brain chip required *Starlink required at $11,000/month. *Oh, and it only accesses Xitter. *you can unlock your car too I guess **unlock feature requires you to get pregnant with another one of Musk’s kids.

[-] Uglyhead@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Funny that:

https://lemmy.world/comment/6026004

I hadn’t thought of everything you had added. Damn good editions! Let’s make a Phony Stark Phone!

As well they should. What a fucking manbaby.

[-] ttmrichter@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Is he even really a man in part any longer?

[-] TomMasz@kbin.social 42 points 11 months ago

Oh no, Telsa drivers may have to look at the pedestrians they run over instead of watching Mickey and Goofy? Awwwww.

[-] KSPAtlas@sopuli.xyz 8 points 11 months ago

I assume its made for the passengers

[-] Cqrd@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 11 months ago

It's mostly for time spent charging your car, same with all the games

[-] Chriswild@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Of which Teslas take longer to charge because they still can't do 800v batteries and chargers.

[-] GrayBoltWolf@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

The cyber truck is 800v…?

[-] Chriswild@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

I'm sure all 5 of them and the limited V4 chargers that will actually change at 800v will eventually be enough to be of note. But currently the most common is Electrify America and Kia/Hyundai

[-] Beetschnapps@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

On autopilot everyone in the car is a passenger. Outside of the car they might as well be dead?

[-] someguy3@lemmy.world 31 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Sounds like Musk is trying to blackmail. Iger should get on a stage and say "anyone that tries to blackmail me, go fuck yourself."

[-] Everythingispenguins@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Iger has no need to do that. All he has to do is release the lawyers. Having said that Disney will do nothing. It has zero effect on their bottom line.

[-] Muffi@programming.dev 1 points 11 months ago

I wish he could see the irony, but the guy has a negative amount of self-reflection.

[-] the_q@lemmy.world 27 points 11 months ago

Aww widdle Musky needs his dipey wipey changed?

[-] Jaysyn@kbin.social 17 points 11 months ago

Me: "Elon can't make Tesla's any shittier than they already are."

Muskrat: "Hold my beer."

[-] breadsmasher@lemmy.world 15 points 11 months ago

People watch shows while driving?!

[-] NIB@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago

Electric cars need time to charge, so you can watch stuff while waiting for the batteries to charge.

[-] KSPAtlas@sopuli.xyz 3 points 11 months ago

Doesnt most charging take place at home?

[-] NIB@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago

Not if you want to go on a roadtrip.

[-] BruceTwarzen@kbin.social 5 points 11 months ago

This is a weird ass trend i started to see. People use their phone for navigation and their car display to watch tv while driving. I've seen it the first time like 3month ago, but since then ever so often.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

People text while driving. Is that really so surprising?

[-] ArugulaZ@kbin.social 14 points 11 months ago

I mean, it's his right. Just as it's Disney's right to not advertise on Nazis R Us.

[-] lobut@lemmy.ca 10 points 11 months ago

Kind of messed up Tesla takes action because of a spat on Twitter though.

[-] HollandJim@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

The Board should have oversight on this, but then there are family members and sycophants on the board, so…

[-] ttmrichter@lemmy.world 10 points 11 months ago

Ah, yes. Capitalism at its finest. Two dick-waving walking egos have a tussle and everybody else pays the price.

At least here it's something that doesn't matter.

[-] dynamojoe@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago

I didn't even know I had D+ in my car and I am a subscriber. Nonetheless, thanks for making my car worse, Elon!

[-] Uglyhead@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Hey now, don’t talk shit on Phony Stark, he may ban you from using your car.

[-] AA5B@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Just used it for the first time today on my way home from work, so hopefully I keep it
