Funny meme, but fun fact: FromSoftware was making Souls-like games since the 90s. The first Armored Core came out in '97, while their first game series, King's Field, came out in' 94. The first Berserk game didn't come out until '99 on the Dreamcast. The actuallypopular Berserk game that everyone recalls came out in 2017, from the Dynasty Warriors devs.
So Berserk games are ripoffs of FromSoftware games.
Berserk is a manga that started in the 80's.
Can games really be a ripoff of other media formats, though?
I believe they can.
But I also don't think any souls-borne is an actual rip-off. They definitely use it for inspiration and whatnot. But I wouldn't call it a rip-off. That being said, I've never read any Berserk, but I have played (most of) the souls-borne games.
I've watched some videos comparing the two, but that's all the Berserk content I've seen.
I'd say it's already a huge stretch. But considering that we're talking about a meme (one that's really generous to CoD games), I figured they were already being tongue in cheek.
Plus, it ain't like Berserk is the only medieval dark fantasy out there.
That reminds me, Castlevania also came out in '86. Berserk's manga in' 89.
