"I don't use social media, and I don't have an email."

[-] sunbeam60@feddit.uk 8 points 1 day ago

Well you can of course do that. Then if it discovered that you’ve lied on an entry form, you’ll be denied entry forever.

Or malicious compliance: only share porn accounts... with a wink.

Social media accounts. Shares 16 different fetlife accounts.

And then they deny you access for being a freak. You still dont win and are out the money for your tickets and have to buy return trip off date at your expense. Or get shipped to gitmo.

dont know who has to hear this but it's ok to lie to the government.

[-] Microtonal_Banana@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 day ago

That is false. Lying to federal agents, investigators, or officials can land you in a world of shit. See 18 U.S.C. 1001 for details.

I decided to never return to the US after they brought in mandatory fingerprinting. It's progressed so much further now. Land of the free*

[-] DeathByBigSad@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 day ago

What country doesn't do fingerprinting? The entire world seems about the same in terms of surveillance.

[-] harmbugler@piefed.social 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Oh dear, things have worsened since I last looked, including 29 EU states just late this year.

[-] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

EU passports and ID already have the fingerprint stored digitally on them. If a EU nation wants to they can just get the fingerprint of every EU citizen that enters their country by air. Technically illegal but who’s gonna stop them.

Land of the free was written before slavery was abolished. It's never been a free country.

Showing up at the airport with my file cabinet full of old memes.

[-] thatsnothowyoudoit@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

And what happens if I forget something? So many email addresses and phone numbers to avoid marketing spam… no way I could honestly recall them all.

This is more relevant than ever: https://youtu.be/eiyfwZVAzGw

Or for those who want to skip Google snorting up your data: https://yewtu.be/watch?v=eiyfwZVAzGw

Sadly, Palantir will probably find them all and then they'll accuse you of lying or withholding info.

[-] plyth@feddit.org 2 points 23 hours ago

I thought that had been required before. What changed?

I don't have any history to hand over. Still not going though.

[-] WanderingThoughts@europe.pub 9 points 1 day ago

Seems they got really tired of people bringing burner phones when visiting the USA.
