I like Dave's channels and content. But God I hope he doesn't start trying to wade into these sorts of debates with "hot takes". Nothing positive will come of publicly taking a side on this issue on Twitter/Bluesky for him.
It's not even a hot take. It's just another way to get around MS bullshit.
He's a former Microsoft engineer for those who don't know
At this point it's much easier to just pirate Windows 11 Enterprise with massgrave.dev. But then again, you could also just install any Windows 10 version and sneakily activate ESU without an account. But at that point, it is even easier nowadays to just install Linux.
Why are people like this? If you didn't like what a company is doing, didn't use their products.

If you have anything that straight-up won't work in WINE or Mono, or only partially works in WINE or Mono (eg. CUETools when trying to use external encoders with it; that option is broken in both WINE and Mono but works normally in Windows, and CUETools is a FOSS app suite distributed under GPL to boot), just run LTSC in a VM, it still lets you use a local account for now, and that also goes for Win11 LTSC, both that and Win10 LTSC let you set up local accounts.
Reminds me of the most traumatising conversation I've had in a good while, which included the following (abridged) exchange:
Me: You do know that, if payment for your yearly M365 fees fails for some reason, or you simply don't want or don't care about it anymore and let your subscription expire, you will get read-only access to your OWN data, which is stored in YOUR computer, and unable to create new files in Office ?
Him: So what? If you have a newspaper subscription and you stop paying, you won't get the newspaper anymore, that's just how subscriptions work.
...
I am not talking about a 10 year old. This is a 50+ year old dude who does entrepreneur's consulting for a living.
Yeah but the demographic that will do this is like infinitesimally small. It’s fine, techies always know how to stick it to the man, but they succeed with most people so they get what they want. Not a dispute just a comment.
