I once commented on Reddit that I'd suck the dev of vlc off until he kicks his feet and curls his toes for providing us with such well made software. Someone tagged him because of course he's on Reddit too and he just replied "I'm in France :)". I still think about that sometimes.
I rarely chip into crowdfunding campaigns, but if you made one for this purpose, I might be inclined to do so.
From their username and domain, they might not be that far from France. This could be a small enough expense for lemmy to crowdfund.
