I decided to try a ranked battle so I could try and obtain my Greninjite. It went horribly wrong. I was the only one in the battle with 0 points.

Finding these pretty useful as I make my ROM hack/mod, and when I was initially trying to learn about how to do that this did not show up on my search engine searches, figured I'd post it here

I walked into a wild area and saw a sparkly Pidgey. I had no idea shinys would be so easy to see, but I am not going to complain about that!

Follow your friendly glitch expert LalaZZ, who will try to teach you how to perfectly perform tweaking, which takes advantage of an oversight in the way maps load in games from Generation IV Pokémon games, especially Diamond and Pearl, and allows us to reach the fabled shadow realm known as the Mystery Zone! Hopefully everything will go fine and this won’t turn into a creepypasta...

Have any of you come across stuff that makes you wish you knew sooner?

Any tips you want to share with those who just started the game?

I’m in the middle of trying to get a shiny Venipede but no luck so far.

Update to add additional non-U.S. links (thanks to @tamlyn@lemmy.zip for those)

My wife and I drove to the city today to get code cards. We were able to get one each, I was hoping to be able to get them for our kids, but was unable to get enough for all three of them.

But the fact that I had to drive 85 miles one way to participate was crap. I feel for everyone outside the areas where it is available, who does not have a chance to travel to get a code.

Scalpers have the codes on eBay, I see them up to $100.

Channel is full of other hand-drawn Pokémon animatics explaining life in the wild as that Pokémon. Reminds me of the "why life as [animal] sucks" videos, both are enjoyable!

Pestachu (lemmy.zip)

Posting from schedule.lemmings.world with no alt text option, so here's the alt text:

A tumblr post by woosh-floosh captioned "I thought I remembered pikachu being treated almost as a pest in early pokemon media, but I think this is only true for the one chapter in pokemon adventures when Red catches Pika? anyways heres pestachu". There are two images in the post, which are (possibly fabricated) screenshots from Twitter. One screenshot is a Tweet from Leah @leaflitter, with a picture of a shocked-looking Pikachu at a nest with two eggs being pointed at. It is captioned "I just moved in two days ago and there's already a fucking pikachu nest in my garage. Guess I have to go stock up on repels along with everything else!!!!!!" The other screenshot is a Tweet from Billyyyyyyyyyy @golurk_55 showing a Pikachu emitting electricity from its red cheek spots captioned "pikachu at the gnerator, what do I do?" and a reply to the Tweet by ~PSYCHIC☆STAR~ @psychistar saying "pray".

After reading the video transcript I think the reason it's considered revolutionary (having only seen this video of it sent by a friend) is that it is being made in Unreal Engine instead of ROM hacking, allowing for different graphics (which I think are super pretty) and more easily doing things a bit differently. Battle looks 2D/3D, Pokémon can follow you out of their ball and they seem to have reasonable animations for it instead of this. Game demo here
