Hi all!

I recently realised that the Anno 117 wiki is completely barebones, despite the game releasing 5 months ago.

Having been in anno discords + reddit in the lead up to the game's release, i saw that some players claimed they were working on a more integrated alternative to the wiki. From my POV, this has completely failed to materialise, and I still check the relevant subreddits and discord just to check up on this.

Part of the desire for a more sophisticated guide resource is of course because of people turning away from Fandom as a wiki provider, since it's known for covering content with adverts, but i haven't actually experienced any adverts on this particular site when i browse.

The Anno wikis for 1404 and 2070 was notoriously well-stocked with knowledge and tricks.

Regardless of whether more sophisticated guides exist somewhere, i expect it will help a lot of players to have a more prominent resource to understand game mechanics, layouts, and where to find mods. One that shows up at the top of a google search.

So if you're interested in contributing to one such guide resource, just make a fandom account and start typing articles. If you're not interested, then don't worry!

Video demonstration (German with english AI dub provided by youtube)

This mod makes it actually possible to get the "special quests" for each rival NPC in what I consider an ordinary playtime - apparently you need to play for like 40 hours to get these quests? Shouldn't be random whether you get them or not

These quests are necessary for 100% completion. Both the in-game accolades and things like Steam Achievements.

I haven't tried this yet myself but it must work since it's still on mod marketplace.

Happy gaming.

Discussion thread pertaining to the first and latest DLC release of the game.

Ask questions, chat, or share screenshots. Doesn't have to be related to the DLC. I'll do one of these for every DLC release, because that's probably when player count spikes.

Experimenting with an "easy-fill" layout where houses are in regular 9x7 blocks.

I think it creates a nice view on sloping terrain, with each strip of housing peaking over the previous one. Here is the city at early-Equites stage.

And a zoomed-out shot of the same area...

Lastly, here is a nice seaside view from the town. This is where the thumbnail shot comes from.

The benefits of this layout were that it's very tileable, it plans ahead allow big public buildings close together (and close to the centre), and is easy to weave aqueducts into, because the housing blocks all have a gap for aqueducts or ornaments.

Expect another post next week if not sooner, and feel free to share your own screenshots!

Posting this gem because it's one of the most fun anno videos out there. Enjoy!
