The Israeli army's Arabic spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, issued an evacuation order to all residents in Gaza on 13 June via X, declaring vast areas of the strip as “dangerous combat zones” that the citizens should stay away from.

In the map he shared, the red areas shown are designated as “dangerous combat zones,” and cover the majority of the Gaza Strip, forming a wide horizontal band that spans almost the entire region from north to south, leaving only a narrow strip along the coastline where people can traverse.

I don’t think this is accurate. If it was just to annex Gaza, they wouldn’t have to commit genocide.

[-] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 28 points 1 week ago

It's not annexation, it's Lebensraum. You can't Leben on the Raum other people are already Leben in, hence the genocide.

Edit: I apologize to any Germans present.

Those aren't people living there, only Untermenschen!

(I mean, if they are gonna call Palestinians dogs and less than human, they should atleast have the balls to use the words their grandparents heard so often)

PS: only nouns get capitalised, so it's leben ins Raum, genennt Lebensraum (hope my coffee kicked in on time and I didn't trigger Muphry's Law)

I’m weirdly anxious about also triggering Muphry’s Law, but I’m pretty sure you mean genannt, unless maybe that’s Yiddish and not German.

Nope, Muphry strikes again! genannt it should be!

Leaving as it is though, because it's too funny not to.

exactly! just like how most of the united states is native american!

Maybe I was being too pedantic. The point was, they are committing an unnecessary genocide.

To annex a land you can do things like displace the people, enslave a people, commit genocide, etc. Genocide is not strictly necessary. They could have tried displacing them into other countries before bombing the shit out of basically the entire strip.

I’m not saying mass murder has never been used in annexation but calling it annexing undersells the fact that they are committing a genocide

israel has been displacing people since inception. genocide isnt their motivation or purpose so much as it is their method as you noted. there are many options and many things can be true at once.

the genocide is ancillary to the annexation.

and i wholly agree, they should pay for committing the act of genocide.

the whole thing reminds me of that south park episode where its ok to kill things if you scream 'theyre comin right for us!' first.

They do it because the indigenous Palestinians refuse to let Israel expel them from their land. Israel's goal is not killing Arabs, but they are okay with it if it lets them expand their ethnostate.

[-] kruhmaster@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 week ago

It's only dangerous because Israel is in the wrong country.

[-] supersquirrel@sopuli.xyz 6 points 1 week ago

Well you dropped a historic amount of bombs on it...so no shit? No worries though I don't tend to go for strolls in places that are crime scenes for an almost complete genocide.
