I just watched a semi driver do literally all of those things.
Not even on the interstate, on local roads.
I watch people do this all the time on local roads! It happens on interstates here as well!
Just yesterday I almost had someone pit maneuver themselves on the front of my work truck (that was towing a heavily loaded trailer!) I still don't know why they didn't just slow down and go behind me (or SPEED UP A LITTLE MORE) rather than almost cause a terrible accident, since they turned right 20 seconds later and had ample time to do so
Same, but with the moving pathways at the airport
Me in either case:

so clearly you should just walk up to the last person on the escalator and stand next to them
